We spend a lot of time in our bathrooms and beauty and functionality are key components in creating the dream master bathroom experience.
The standard master bathroom can be easily transformed into a customized interior and personal retreat.
Whatever your design preferences may be, a traditional romantic setting or a contemporary theme, a wide range of products and price points are available to create any beautiful bathroom.
Here are some basic ideas to consider whether you are remodeling or planning a custom home:
- Raise the counter top height to 36” high
- Cabinetry does not have to match the bedrooms, be creative and consider accent, painted finishes or different wood finishes
- Frame out mirrors with back splash tile and molding, or use decorative mirrors
- Granite counter tops will add beauty and elegance, and engineered quartz products can offer color and low maintenance
- Accent drop-in sinks add style and design for a traditional look, under mounted sinks look best in a contemporary theme
- Accent with faucetry and hardware
- Customize the shower with body jets, overhead or wall mounted shower heads, add a hand-held shower head for cleaning ease, plan for a steam shower
- Acrylic drop-in tubs for tiled decks or free-standing claw and ball foot tubs for a more traditional look
- Combine stone and porcelain tiles to create texture and interest, add glass tiles for that extra accent color
- Create ambiance with light fixtures such as chandeliers, wall sconces, and pendants.
- Plan for an under counter fridge, warming drawer for towels, a TV in a wall cabinet, or sound system
A major trend in bathroom functionality is the universal design concept to accommodate people of all ages.
There will be a time for most families where an aging parent or disability of a family member will dictate the planning of a bathroom.
Attention to wider doorways, eliminating curbs for frameless showers and adding grab bars for showers and tubs are just a few of the considerations.
