The latest trend in kitchen design is two-toned kitchens. Paitned finishes for the perimeter and dark, rich cherry woods for the island.
Another example of a two-toned kitchen design would be a stained wood finish on the perimeter with a painted furniture look for the island.
When designing a two-toned kitchen, the perimeter and island do not have to match in color or texture.
One project I am recently installing has a sophisticated cream color soft glaze painted perimeter with a dark cherry island. To create a more furniture look for the island, I included furniture base molding, turnings and wainscot paneling.
